Acceptable Use Policy

This policy says what may not be done on Xanawave. It is short on purpose. We would rather you read it once and understand it than skim four pages of legal language and take your chances.

It applies to everything you broadcast, publish or upload: your stations, your podcasts, your public page, the text of your announcements, and what your team members do under your account.

Rights you do not hold

Do not broadcast music, recordings, jingles or any other material you have no right to broadcast. This is the single most common reason a hosting account gets closed, and it is the one we cannot argue our way out of when a rights holder complains.

Holding a licence from a collecting society is your responsibility. If you are unsure whether you have the rights to something, assume you do not until you have checked.

Content that is not allowed

Do not broadcast or publish:

Material that is illegal where you broadcast from or where your listeners are — including anything sexual involving minors, which we report to the authorities without warning or discussion.

Incitement to hatred or violence against people because of their origin, religion, ethnicity, sex, sexual orientation, disability or any similar characteristic.

Harassment — targeting a person, encouraging others to target them, or publishing someone's private details.

Deliberate falsehood presented as fact where it puts people at risk: fake health advice, fabricated emergencies, manipulated recordings of real people.

Fraud — schemes, fake competitions, and advertising that misleads about what is being sold.

Strong language, difficult subjects, political opinion and controversy are not on this list. A radio station that never troubles anyone is rarely worth listening to. What we ask is that you stay within the law and do not aim harm at people.

Things not to do with the platform

Do not attempt to break into other accounts, probe the infrastructure, or bypass the limits of your plan. Do not use automated tools to inflate listener numbers or engagement figures — you would only be lying to yourself, and to any advertiser you show them to.

Do not resell hosting to third parties unless we have agreed to it in writing. Running stations for clients as an agency is fine; reselling the platform as your own service is not.

Do not use the service to send bulk unsolicited email, to host files unrelated to your station, or as general storage.

Do not overload the API beyond its published limits, or scrape the platform.

Your listeners

If you take song requests, dedications or questions, you become responsible for what appears on your page. Moderate it. The panel lets you hide or delete anything a listener sends, and you should use that when someone abuses it.

Do not use what listeners send you for anything they would not expect — no mailing lists built from dedication names, no selling contact details.

What happens if this policy is broken

It depends on what happened. For most things we contact you first, explain the problem and give you a chance to fix it. Persistent or serious breaches lead to suspension, and then to closure.

Some things bring immediate suspension without warning: content that is criminal, a credible legal demand, or activity that endangers the platform for other customers.

If we suspend a station we tell you why, in plain words. If you think we have got it wrong, reply and say so — we have been wrong before.

Reporting something

If you have found a station on Xanawave doing something described here, write to info@xanawave.com with the station address and what you saw. We look at every report. We do not act on reports that amount to disliking someone's music or politics.

Rights holders with a copyright complaint should include what material is affected, where it was broadcast, and confirmation that they hold the rights.
